We’re Banking on Virginia Businesses

From the day EagleBank opened its doors, we have been lending to small businesses in the Washington metropolitan area.  As a community bank, it is the essence of what we do.  And we are proud to see so many of our customers expand and thrive.  It is most gratifying for me to drive around the area and see so many businesses accomplish what they set out to do, and more.  For their success is our success.

In a recent post, I described how EagleBank continues to expand its presence in Northern Virginia.  It is certainly evident in the signs atop our branches and the signs you will see at real estate construction projects.  While it may not be as evident, EagleBank is also quite active lending to Virginia small businesses.

Norma Krueger and Richard Flynn own Human Resources Consulting, Inc.  Their corporate office is in Falls Church, Virginia.  HRCI is a consulting firm primarily to the Federal government, with a focus on the National Guard.  It assists customers with a variety of human resource, finance and administrative services.  They do this by drawing on their employees’ vast experience in military and civilian personnel services.  The company is minority owned, service-disabled veteran owned and a woman-owned small business.  EagleBank provided HRCI with a line of credit to support substantial growth and expansion arising from several transformative contract awards this year.  Many lenders would decline the opportunity to extend significant credit prior to a company showing several years of solid financials – the classic chicken or egg.  EagleBank is different.  We were able to respond quickly and work with Norma and Richard and their partners to ensure that the company was able to secure the capital they needed so they could execute their business plan.

You might know Ronnie Mervis’ voice from his many radio commercials promoting his family business of selling diamonds.  We know Ronnie’s voice because we talk with him often, together with brother Zed and Ronnie’s son.  Mervis Diamonds owns three stores in the metropolitan area, following through on a family business that started 100 years ago in South Africa.  We are the lender to Mervis Diamonds for a number of different needs, including a mortgage on their Tyson’s Corner store, and multiple inventory lines.

EagleBank also is a lender to many of the restaurants you patronize.  You may not see a sign on the door, but EagleBank is behind many of Virginia’s tasty treats.  One recent example is MEDI, a great, new Mediterranean concept in Shirlington Village in Arlington.  MEDI offers the vibrant tastes of Mediterranean food, uniquely blending flavors with healthy ingredients at reasonable prices.  MEDI came to EagleBank for a term loan to finance the build-out of its location.  George Theodorou and Christian Falatko have taken the success of their Delia’s Mediterranean Grill in Alexandria and come to Shirlington Village.

But there are many, many restaurants that bank with EagleBank.  They range from Circa in Clarendon to Pizzeria Paradiso and Hank’s Oyster Bar in Alexandria, to Jaleo in Crystal City to Caffe Aficionado (a high end coffee shop opening in the Waterview building in Rosslyn where our branch is).  Retail stores that have turned to EagleBank include MOM’s Organic Market (in Alexandria, Herndon and Merrifield), Salon Plaza, Jumbo Jungle and TinCup.

We understand business and we know Virginia. How can we help you?
